Sealing the Bond of Brotherhood

Welcome to the Brotherhood Review section of the Unami Lodge website. Thank you for taking interest in sealing your membership in the Order of the Arrow. We strongly encourage you to review the requirements and plan to take part in The Brotherhood Trail at a Lodge Weekend or at Summer Camp.

While being an Ordeal member in the Order of the Arrow entitles you to all the rights and privileges that the Order has to offer, participating in The Brotherhood Trail and becoming a Brotherhood member publicly shows that you are committed to the Order and its ideals.

The requirements for Brotherhood membership in the Order of the Arrow are listed below. Click on the links of each requirement to review the material. While participating in The Brotherhood Trail these requirements will be reviewed and no advance preparation is necessary.

In addition, the ceremonies and Ordeal process will be explained in depth, and you will hear a presentation on positions and service opportunities in both the Lodge and your Chapter.

Now you are probably asking yourself, “When can I participate in The Brotherhood Trail?” We have great news for you! We have greatly expanded the number of opportunities for you to “Seal the Bond” and become a Brotherhood member.

The best way to obtain Brotherhood is to attend one of the 3 service weekends that the lodge hosts. To attend one of these weekends simply print out the registration form off of the Forms Page and register as a Brotherhood candidate. (Please note that when registering for these weekends, the fee does NOT include your lodge dues and you will not be able to "Seal the Bond" until you are current on your lodge dues.)

If you are unable to attend one of these weekends, there are several opportunities over the summer months. If your unit is attending Resica Falls this summer you can participate while at summer camp. You need not do anything in advance but once you get to camp, ask to sign up for becoming a Brotherhood member. If your unit is not attending Resica Falls for a week of camp this summer, you can come to Resica Falls and become a Brotherhood member on one of the provisional opportunities. If you are interested in this option please fill out the Brotherhood Provisional Reservation and send it back to the address on the form.

If you still have not had the time to go to one of our service weekends or could not attend Summer Camp then you can always attend the Brotherhood Blitz. The Brotherhood Blitz is a one-day event every December that allows all qualified Ordeal members to complete their Brotherhood outside of a service weekends. We know that many brothers are not be able to attend our lodge’s service weekends due to other commitments, or that they are vital workers on some important project during the service weekends, and therefore are unable to complete their Brotherhood. The Brotherhood Blitz gives them another opportunity to seal their membership in the Order of the Arrow.

I sincerely hope to see you at one of our upcoming opportunities to Seal your membership. In Brotherhood,

Jon Richards Chris Brenner
Brotherhood Chariman Brotherhood Adviser
